Seminar on Estate Agency Work in the Mainland

To provide both the trade and the community at large with the latest developments in the legislation governing estate agency practice in the Mainland, the EAA offered two seminars, on 17th and 18th July respectively. Officials from the municipal authorities at Guangzhou as well as the provincial government of Guangdong were present as speakers at both sessions.

The first seminar, which took place on 17th July at the Space Museum in Tsimshatsui, was jointly organised with the Consumer Council. With a target audience of members of the general public, the seminar covered a wide range of useful information for citizens contemplating the purchase of properties in the Mainland. Many questions were raised by members of the audience to which the speakers provided helpful answers and references for further information.

The second seminar was for members of the trade and was held the next morning at the School of Continuing and Professional Education of the City University in Central. At this session the speakers explained in detail the licensing and regulatory systems currently in force on the Mainland, as well as how the qualifications required might be obtained by passing the relevant examinations. This was supplemented by the presentation of a veteran estate agent on the business environment in the Mainland. Questions from the audience were numerous and enthusiastic, and indicative of Hong Kong practitioners' interest in developing business opportunities in the Mainland. At the end of the session the Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman of the Training Committee of the EAA presented souvenirs to the speakers.
