| 1. Timing
for renewal
All licences and statements of particulars
of business are effective only within the validity period
stipulated therein. They become invalid immediately upon expiry.
The time frame for renewing a licence is not more than three months and not less than
one month prior to the expiration of the licence. The Authority
has the right not to accept applications submitted after the
said period. Where a late application is accepted, there is
no guarantee that the renewal process can be completed before
the expiry of the current licence.
In the following cases, processing time will
be relatively longer and applications should therefore be
submitted as early as possible within the prescribed period:
- removal of a condition
attached to the licence
- application for a different
type of licence
Please note that an application for renewal
after the expiration of the current licence will be regarded
as a new application for licence. It is an offence for the applicant
to practise estate agency work without a valid licence, notwithstanding that the applicant has submitted an application which
is pending disposal. For ex-licensees re-applying for licence, please click here for more information.
