What information is required?

 

We shall normally ask you to attend our offices to give a detailed statement in writing. It is important that you let us have your name, address(other than post office box number) and contact telephone number. Please provide us with copies of all relevant documents such as the Estate Agency Agreement or the Agreement for Sale and Purchase or the like of the property concerned. Your cooperation in providing us with the necessary information and evidence will assist us in processing the complaint expeditiously.

Confidentiality
All information received by us will be treated in the STRICTEST CONFIDENCE. Please note however that we have to inform the estate agent being investigated of the subject matter of the complaint, and who is making it.

If you wish to remain anonymous or do not wish to reveal your address or show us your identification documents, we may nevertheless use the information you have supplied to us for our regulatory purposes but may not handle your case as a complaint.

Personal data
Your personal information given in the complaint will be kept confidential and made available only to EAA personnel handling your complaint or used for other lawful purposes . In accordance with Principle I of the Data Protection Principles set out in the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486), you have the right to have access to and correct the data provided, for which purpose please write to the Data Protection Officer at 48/F, Hopewell Centre, 183 Queen's Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong.
